Create Your Own Website and Start Making Money

Register or Submit your Website to the Search Engines

Once you have completed at least 10-15 pages on your website, then it is time for you to register your site on the search engines like Google and Yahoo. It can take around 4 to 6 weeks for the search engines to acknowledge your site, so don't expect any immediate results.

However, you don't want to register your site before you have posted a good deal of quality content. First impressions are important and if someone finds your site and it is only half-way finished, they are probably not going to return.

Register your Website with Google

As stated previously, approximately two-thirds of the world's internet searches are done on Google. So if you only register with one search engine, make sure it is with Google.

To register with Google, the process is quite simple. Go to the page that says "Add your URL to Google." Fill in the blanks as instructed.

Submit your site to Yahoo, Bing and other search engines

To register your website for free in the Yahoo search engine, you have to have a Yahoo account. Once you have signed up for a Yahoo account, you can submit your site to Yahoo by going to the "Submit Your Site" page.

Go to the "Bing URL submission" page to register your site with Bing.

Many independent websites also offer free submission of your URL to multiiple search engines all at the same time.

Search for your Website

Congratulations! You've registered your website with the search engines. However, that does not mean you've finished your website. Keep adding more pages and more content, so that when the search engines pick up your site (although there are no guarantees), your site will be filled with as much original content as possible.

In the coming weeks, you can first check to see if your site is detected in the search engines by just typing in your URL in the search box. If your website does not come up, that means the search engines have not detected it yet.

Once the search engines have picked up your site in their web crawler, then you can start checking on your site's ranking. Type in the specific keywords linked with your site and then scroll through the results pages to see where your site is listed.

Getting your site listed on the first page of a keyword search is a long process. But if you implement the search engine optimization strategies (specifically those taught by Site Build It), then within a year, you have a very strong chance of your site rising to the first page of a Google search. Until then, do everything you can to fill your site with quality content and significant keywords, and hopefully, one day your hard work will have paid off.
